Decorative Anodising
Anodising converts the surface of aluminium into an extremely hard, durable, corrosion resistant and long lasting aluminium oxide finish.
Decorative Sulphuric Anodising
The most common form is Decorative Sulphuric Anodising and many items manufactured from aluminium are protected by this method. It is usually specified to provide a decorative finish and to protect the surface from corrosion. Items such as door handles, seat trims, window surrounds and display cabinet frames are some of the familiar applications.
Surface Properties of Sulphuric Anodising
Decorative Sulphuric Anodising provides a silver coloured finish reflecting the natural colour of the metal but components can also be dyed in an exciting range of colours to provide eye-catching effects.
The appearance of Decorative Sulphuric Anodising can be varied by polishing, bead blasting or deep etching to provide bright, matt or satin finishes.
Most wrought alloys are suitable for Decorative Anodising although certain grades will produce better results, especially when dyed. The range of suitable cast alloys is very restricted - contact us for advice.
