Hard Anodising
Hard Anodising is an alternative form of anodising where high levels of hardness and abrasion resistance are important. Typical uses are working parts on machinery and street hardware items such as cable duct and water stopcock covers.
Dyeing of Hard Anodised Components
The grade of aluminium has an effect on the resultant colour after anodising and can range from brown through light grey to charcoal. Because of this, the dyeing of Hard Anodised components can be difficult and only dark colours should be considered. Contact us for more information.
Process of Hard Anodising
The typical thickness of the anodising film applied during the Hard Anodising process is 20-50 microns and as the film provides electrical resistance any bores and surfaces that need to maintain electrical contact should be identified so that appropriate bungs or masking can be applied prior to treatment.
- Thickness of film:
- 15 - 80 microns
